Here are some common questions about our ghost tours.
What are the Ghosts of Gettysburg tours?
Costumed guides carrying a lantern conduct comfortably paced walking tours through downtown Gettysburg. Our tours are based on storytelling, combining the history of Gettysburg and the battle that took place here, with mysterious tales of the still lurking dead. If you’re looking for a “haunted house” experience, this is not the tour for you!
When do the tours take place?
The tour schedule varies depending on the time of year. Please go to the Tour calendar to see what tours are running on the dates you will be visiting Gettysburg.
Do we go into any haunted houses?
All of our tours are outside walking tours. You are more than welcome to walk through our haunted building and the guides include stories about our building on their tours. All of the buildings in Gettysburg are privately owned. Tour companies that take you inside a building, own that building.
Will I see a ghost on the tour?
People have experienced things while on our tours, but all that we can guarantee is that everyone will learn a little history, hear some great ghost stories and have fun on the tour. If a ghost makes an appearance, it’s an unexpected bonus!
Where do the tours meet?
The tours leave from the fenced side yard at the Ghosts of Gettysburg Tour Headquarters located at 271 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 17325
Where do we park?
Parking is metered street parking on Baltimore Street. The meters are free after 8pm and all day Sunday.
How long are the tours?
The Baltimore Street tour lasts approximately 75 minutes and covers about 3/4 of a mile. The Carlisle Street and West Confederate tours last approximately 1 hour 45 minutes and cover about 1 1/4 miles.
How much do the tours cost?
Tour tickets are $9.50+tax/person and $10.00+tax/person depending on the tour. Children age 7 and under are free.
Do tickets have to be purchased in advance?
We highly recommend that you purchase your tickets via our website or by calling our office at 717-337-0445 by 6:30pm on the day of the tour. There is a borough ordinance that dictates how many people we can put with one guide, so a tour may sell out. Tickets are NOT guaranteed if they are not purchased in advance.
What happens if there is bad weather?
The tours go out rain or shine. A tour is only cancelled if there is dangerous weather at the time of the tour. Please contact our office at 717-337-0445 if you have any questions or concerns about whether your tour is going as scheduled.
Are the tours appropriate for children?
Yes. Our tours are family-friendly and most children enjoy the tour. You may want to bring a stroller if you have any concerns about your child getting tired part way through the tour.
What is your ticket refund policy?
We will gladly process a ticket refund up to the start time of your tour.
When you book your tour we will ask for a contact phone number and a credit card to hold your reservation. We reserve the right to charge your card if you fail to cancel your tour or don’t show up for your scheduled tour. We realize that unforeseen emergencies happen. Just let us know as soon as possible!
Are the tours handicapped accessible?
Yes. The tours take place entirely outdoors on the sidewalks throughout the downtown area.
Do you offer group rates?
Yes. Group rates are offered to groups of 10 or more when one person pays for everyone. The group rate varies based on tour, but the rate includes tax and $1 tip/person for the tour guide.
If you have a group of 20 or more you may request a private tour.
